December 8th 2011 - Flag retired at Merritt's Store
Known around town and the world for their famous BLT's, Merritt's store asked the Scouts of Troop 845 to help them retire the flag that had been hanging outside of their store for years. So on December 8th an Honor Guard of six Scouts retired a flag in a solomn ceremony behind the longtime Chapel Hill icon. It started off with some lively blue grass music around the fire and the after the ceremony the music fired back up and was accompanied by some hot dogs. As always, a good time was had by all. Check out a full gallery of photos here.

November 13, 2011 - 658 Appalachian Trail Miles logged by Troop 845
We had quite a crew head to McAfee's Knob on the Appalachian Trail last weekend and to honest we crushed out some trail. As you can see in the picture we had quite a few Scouts, many of them first year guys, and the whole crew did the entire 14 mile traverse. A majority of the Scouts logged a few cowboy camping nights and of course the hiking along the ridge from McAfee to Tinker cliffs was nothing short of purely epic. Be sure to check out all the photos.

Most epic weekend outing of all time?
On the weekend of October 14-16 2011, Troop 845 took a mountain biking trip that is being hailed as possibly the most epic weekend trip of all time. Bold statement you say? The weekend started with a few hours of trail building, helping the Warrior Creek area near Wilkesboro, NC add a new loop of single track. We then crushed out 12 miles of groomed and engineered single track mountain biking on the renowned Warrior Creek Trails, then followed it up with 12 more miles of single track on the Over Mountain Victory Trail, only to return home to Chapel Hill completely exhausted.
