Welcome to Troop 845, a Boy Scout Troop serving the Chapel Hill, Carrboro area and exploring the greater Earth area for the last 50 years.  The site can be a big place if you don't know what you're looking for so you can start on the About Us page and maybe move to the photos page next to get a flavor of the epicness.  Also, be sure to sign our guestbook while you're here.

2013/2014 off to the usual Epic start -
We're starting the year off as strong as usual. Some great trips in the fall on the classic Appalachian Trail, some great mountain biking, some wilderness survival, the ever present capture the flag, as well as the dodge ball trip that includes some skiing.  Now it's time to set our sites on summer adventures.  We have two big trips going out this summer.  One crew heads north to Maine where they'll try their hand at the 100 miles Wilderness to the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.  The other crew heads to the other side of the globe where they'll spend a month trekking in the Nepalese Himalayas on a quest to make it to Everest Base Camp.  The spring surely holds quite a bit of training and planning so stay tuned.

Back from serious summer adventures and kicking off the weekend program -
Just like always, Troop 845 was out having some serious adventures over the summer.  We sent guys off to two summer camps, Philmont, 75 miles on the PCT at Mt Hood, and the Lucky 13 Bike trip rode 3,600 miles coast to coast.  We've got a great year coming up and some great program for next summer as well so check back in to see how it all goes down.

Lucky 13 Bike Crew riding off in less than one month -

It's that time of year again, spring is rolling over into summer and the Scouts from Troop 845 are prepping for a summer of adventure.  A crew from Troop 845 is heading out on what is becoming a semi-regular cross country bike trip.  This year's crew will leave from Havre de Grace Maryland and ride 3,700 miles over 70 days to Astoria Oregon.  As has been the case in the past, they are raising money for UNC's Lineberger Cancer Center and Victory Junction, a camp for chonically ill children.  They hope to raise $30,000 this summer and are well on their way to reaching their goal.  You can follow their adventure in real time on the site www.Lucky13BikeTrip.com and also help out their cause by donating online as well.

Troop 845 Film Festival 2012 - Want to get an idea of some of the cooler things going on in Scouting these days.  Two recent films about Troop 845 summer adventures premiered at a recent meeting and you can judge which one you think was more epic.  The jury is still out for the 2012 film festival.....but sign ups for next summer's adventures aren't too shabby, we can tell you that much.
River Wild - A 50 Mile backpacking trip along the Selway River Gorge in Idaho.  A crew of our 6th and 7th grade Scouts tested their backpacking skills in the uber remote Selway Bitterroot Wilderness in Idaho.  More description is not needed, just watch it.

Habitat Paraguay - A Habitat for Humanity Build in the remote regions of Luque, Paraguay - Our high school crew of Scouts headed down to Paraguay for the summer to build a house for Habitat for Humanity and afterwards all the way to the southern tip of South America to hike in Torres del Paine National Park in Paraguay.

Every year, the Scouts of Troop 845 are featured in the Council's Friends of Scouting Video and talk about the impact of Scouting on their lives and also the epic adventures they get into throughout the world.  The 2013 Friends of Scouting Video is hot off the press....
